Community transformation is possible when we work together.

Our Partners
San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation
The San Carlos Apache Healthcare’s (SCAHC) “Food is Medicine” initiative focuses on preventing acute and chronic disease through the consumption of healthy foods. We are proud to partner with the SCAHC as a local producer to provide them with regeneratively raised eggs and true organic vegetables that are then served to patients, staff, and community members through their Nutrition Services. This partnership brings greater health to the San Carlos Apache Tribe.
San Carlos Food Distribution
The San Carlos Food Distribution Program aggregates and distributes food throughout the Reservation. Our weekly deliveries to the Food Distribution helps us extend our reach in making healthy foods more accessible to the community. The Food Distribution receives a regular protein source of our eggs, and when in season, the Apache Giant Squash and Apache Red Sugarcane are also made available. This powerful partnership has brought thousands of pounds of locally grown food to Tribal Members.
San Carlos Education Department
The San Carlos Education Department and their Pathways to College Program helps students prepare for and succeed in college. Through our partnership with the Education Department, 2-3 high school interns spend 8 weeks at NDC and work along side our staff each year. They participate in garden activities, chicken chores, food processing, distribution, and are given opportunities to lead younger students. Our most important role in the food system is spending time with and investing in our future leaders.
The United Food Bank
The United Food Bank has been assisting food banks throughout Arizona since 1983. Our partnership began during the COVID pandemic when food was scarce and Tribal communities were at an extremely high risk. Our partnership continues today with monthly food deliveries to San Carlos supported by a conglomerate of community leaders that share food boxes to each District on the Reservation.
The University of Arizona - FRTEP
The University of Arizona - FRTEP has supported NDC since our inception in 2015. Juan Arias, U of A FRTEP Agent, is stationed in San Carlos to provide services in Agriculture Natural Resources, Youth Development(4-H), Livestock & Equine resources, gardening, and horticulture activities. Our partnership continues to evolve as we create new pathways for the San Carlos youth to gain practical life skills and mentorship.
